Most people only have Champagne when they are celebrating an event.  But, whatever you do, don’t put off drinking champagne just because you think you have to have something to celebrate.  That’s such a waste of enjoyment. :)  Everyday is a day to celebrate.

Benefits of Drinking Champagne

Memory

Short term memory is boosted, which could prevent the onset of Alzheimers and Dementia.  (Surely the best reason for drinking a bottle of bubbly!) These facts have been researched scientifically.

Your Heart

As Champagne is made from red and white grapes, it contains resveratrol, which is an important antioxidant for preventing blood clots forming, damage to your blood vessels and helps to reduce bad cholesterol.

Feel Good Factor

Drinking Champagne is associated with celebration, therefore whenever you have a glass of Champagne, it gives you the feel good factor.

The suggested dose is 3 glasses a week

NOT 3 GLASSES A DAY, as I mistakenly told my friend and I have to say, she wasn’t much amused when I told it was actually only 3 glasses a week either.  She was deflated.  Bubbleless in fact. :)

However, I’ve decided that drinking champagne is going to MY new weekly regime.

The effects of drinking  Champagne – If you have been to a wedding reception or other great celebration and the pre-reception drinks were Champagne, then you’ll remember how quickly the bubbles went to your head!  This surely means that it’s the perfect drink for helping people to relax and mix socially.

Apparently, it’s all in the bubbles!

According to scientific evidence, the fizz gets into our bloodstream much quicker due to the carbonation “rushing” the alcohol from the stomach to the small intestine.  (It does not last long but long enough for a person to acquire the feel good factor.)

If health issues concerning your memory or that of a loved one, is a concern, then why not try the 3 glasses of champagne a week plan!  :)  You could also add Vitamin E daily.

Calories in Champagne

Researching, I found figures from 78 calories for a 4 oz glass, upwards of 120+ calories.  Obviously, I would be more inclined to go for approximately 100 calories, just to make sure you don’t overdo it.  LOL

With that said, what about the effects, such as the raised stomach area?

No need to worry … I’ve taken care of that problem with the 23 second exercise plan, which can be done while you are seated, drinking … water !?!

Vitamin E

Daily doses of Vitamin E could help slow down the onset of dementia, according to a recent study published in 2013  by the Journal of the American Medical Association.

However, we are all different and what is suggested by one may not be the right for another, so it is highly recommended that you discuss this with your doctor first.

  1. History – The oldest recorded sparkling wine is Blanquette de Limoux, which was apparently invented by Benedictine Monks in the Abbey of Saint Hilaire, near Carassonne, in 1531.  This lead to the beginning of the Champagne production.
  2. Trade Mark – The name Champagne is legally protected by the Madrid system under an 1891 treaty and can only be used on those products produced in the Champagne region.
  3. Sales  – It was the 19th century when an exponential growth in the production of Champagne was recorded.  Initially, the regional production was approximately 300,000 bottles a year and then sales rose to 20 million bottles in 1850. In 2007, Champagne sales hit an all-time record of 338.7 million bottles.  You can pay up to thousands for one bottle alone.
  4. Health – Research from the University of Columbia has shown that champagne contains proteins that are beneficial for your short term memory.  According to scientific evidence, it is the proteins contained in champagne that benefit your short term memory. This research was done by the University of Columbia.
  5. Consumption Quantity – Also it was researched by Reading University, who also stated that three glasses of champagne a week, ( a week, not a day :) remember ) can improve our short-term memories.“[The] research is exciting because it illustrates for the first time that moderate consumption of Champagne has the potential to influence cognitive functioning such as memory,” said the head researcher, Jeremy Spencer, Ph.D.

  6. Corking – 60 mph (97 kilometers per hour) is the speed that a cork can travel after being released from the bottle, again, according to scientists.  Caution is definitely recommended when corking your bottle of champagne!
  7. Champagne Bubbles – Gérard Liger-Belair (scientist) declared that if you prefer more fizz in your bubbly, then you should serve it warmer than you normally would and be sure to tilt the flute when pouring.
